WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Obama administration made gains on Tuesday in its push for U.S. financial reform, unveiling a landmark bill to tackle systemic risk in the economy and winning congressional committee approval for a measure to expose hedge funds to more government scrutiny.
The systemic risk bill would grant vast powers to a new systemic risk regulatory council, the Federal Reserve and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp to monitor and address risks to economic stability posed by shaky financial holding companies.
Those deemed severely undercapitalized by the council could be restructured or even shut down by regulators. M

More businesses are exporting products due to the fall in the pound.
The competitive exchange rate has sparked an interest in exporting, with Business Link’s online UK Trade Tariff tool having received a record 30,000 visits last month.
Michelle Mone, founder of Ultimo Bras, exports her products. ‘The market is starting to regain strength and the pound is at a competitive rate, so it’s a great time to explore the possibility of exporting and how this could enhance your business,’ she says.
Lord Davies of Abersoch, the Minister for Trade, Investment and Small Business, says: ‘Now is the perfect time for enterprising UK technology businesses, especially start-ups and small businesses, to look abroad at the myriad opportunities available. Exporting breathes life into our economy.’
Despite a recent jump in the pound to a month high of €1.107, it is still down compared with €1.43 the same time two years ago. ?

Ok, let’s stop hating. Ivanka Trump is making money, serious money. She just launched a book, has made money modelling and in real estate. There is no doubt she is making fast cash.
We can sit back and say ‘Oh, her dad got her to where she is’. And yes, we would be right, she had a huge head start. Having a billionaire as a father would help anyone.
But what’s better—sitting back and hating, or learning from what she is doing?
Success is success. It takes time and effort, even if your dad is Donald Trump.
Often we like to paint ourselves into a corner. It’s easy to look at successful people and think they got everything handed to them or that they have some super-natural power, which makes us look at ourselves and think that we can’t get there. So we don’t even bother trying.
It’s simply not true. We all have the innate ability to be successful – but not with the wrong mindset. Mindset is the most important thing to your success.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – U.S. stocks could slip this week if the spate of earnings from bellwethers including Apple Inc (AAPL.O) and Caterpillar Inc (CAT.N) do not live up to heightened expectations.
After a 60 percent run-up in the stock market since March and the Dow again eclipsing 10,000, investors believe the market is priced to perfection. So if earnings fail to hold up their end, stocks could come under pressure.
“We’ve had a tremendous rally,” said Eric Kuby, chief investment officer at NorthStar Investment Management Corp in Chicago. “As we get into some of the little, bumpier earnings releases you’re going to have some headline risk and a little bit of selling pressure.”
A surprisingly strong slate of early results from companies like Alcoa Inc (AA.N) and JPMorgan (JPM.N) has given investors yet more proof of improvement in corporate America.
So all told, if this week’s results come in as hoped, sentiment might get a boost, but the mood may also just be as cautious as after results from General Electric (GE.N) and Bank of America (BAC.N), which dampened spirits.

BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s Commerce Ministry said on Saturday that it has not yet received an application about machinery maker Tengzhong’s bid to buy General Motors’ (GM.UL) Hummer brand.
General Motors Co signed a deal on Friday to sell its iconic but tarnished Hummer brand to an investment partnership headed by the hitherto obscure Chinese machinery maker, based in the country’s southwest province of Sichuan.
“The Ministry of Commerce has yet to receive an application concerning Tengzhong’s purchase of Hummer,” a Ministry official was quoted as saying in a brief report on Chinese state radio.
“Currently, the Sichuan province commerce office is preparing to report the situation to the Ministry of Commerce, and because nothing is known about the specific content of the purchase agreement, for now (the ministry) will not say any more,” the report cited the unnamed official as saying.
It was unclear whether the Ministry’s statement suggested any regulatory obstacle to the deal.
Tengzhong needs approval from the Chinese government, including the Ministry of Commerce, which industry and government officials say holds the ultimate authority over the deal.
Chinese officials have signaled that the deal would be treated favorably, Jim Taylor, the GM executive who has helped steer the sale, said on Friday.
A completed deal would mark the first major acquisition of distressed U.S. a

The idiom algorithm is extracted from the name of the 9th century Persian mathematician Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Musa al-Khwarizmi. The name “algorism” originally referred merely to the system of carrying out mathematics using Arabic numerals. Google’s ranking formula (Page Rank) was conceded on September 4, 2001 by the U.S. Patent that is calculated specially by using algorithm. PR is applied for giving numerical values to web documents by a search engine list. The Page Rank technique employed by the popular search engine Google to assist determines a web page’s relevance or importance. Page Rank depends on the exceptionally liberal attitude of the web sites by using its vast link structure as a marker of a single page’s worth. But Google sees more than the pure quantity of votes, or links a web sites obtains; it also analyzes the web page that casts the vote critically. In other terms, a page rank results from a “ballot” among all the other web pages on the internet about how significant a web page is. A web page’s
