Obamas Give More Of Their Income To Charity Than Bidens
Business Information April 20th. 2011, 8:08amNow that Tax Day has come and gone numbers are being released about President Obama and his wife Michelle’s 2010 tax return. According to The Chronicle of Philanthropy, the first couple donated $245,075, or 14 percent of their income to charity last year. Their adjusted gross income reached $1.7 million in 2010.
In comparison, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill donated just 1.4 percent of their income to charity. Their giving included $4,400 to eight charities and another $950 worth of clothing and household goods.
Wondering which charities the Obama’s donated to? According to records the Obama’s gave $131,075 to the Fisher House Foundation and $15,000 to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. They handed over $10,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of America as well as $5,000 to the Sidwell Friends School, their daughters’ school. The Bidens’ charitable donations were divvied up between $1400 to the Northern Virginia Community College Alumni Scholarship Fund and $1000 to the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
The disclosure comes days after President Obama restated his proposal to change the federal tax code that would limit the tax breaks wealthy people could take for itemized deductions, including those for charitable gifts, to 28 percent of the dollars donated.
